In a flurry of excitement, we tweeted earlier today about the Barneys Love Yourself beauty event. Twice a year, the fabled department store gives shoppers the chance to earn a cosmetics bag fairly brimming over with makeup and skincare—some of it full sized! Spend $200 on any combination of products and the goods are yours, not the mention the gorgeous, sizeable bag it comes in.
Should you find yourself challenged by the prospect of spending $200 in the stunningly-curated apothecary that is the Barney’s beauty department, here are a handful of our chicest picks. You’ve still got ‘til the end of Saturday to shop, and the offer’s good both in-store and online, so hurry!
Yves Saint Laurent Glossy Stain in Violet Edition, #1 ($32) – The beauty blogosphere long ago exploded with the brilliance that is YSL’s line of gloss stain hybrids. This long-lasting moody violet shade makes for perfectly on-trend autumn vampy lips. Pair it with matte skin and a touch of a shimmer-free bronzer (which brings us to our next recommendation…)
Chantecaille Radiance Gel Bronzer ($54) – This is just the sort of bronzer you might want to pair with the aforementioned violet lips. The gel-fluid formula is made with raspberry stem cells (!) and packed with antioxidants. It glides on silkily and leaves a slightly sun-kissed look that even our pale selves should be able to pull off in the dead of a New York winter.
Tatcha Luminous Dewy Skin Mist ($48) – We’ve done no shortage of raving about the geisha-inspired California skincare confections from Tatcha (in fact, go enter our giveaway if you haven’t, already!). This lightweight spray moisturizer is a new addition to the brand, and it’s already getting rave reviews. Unlike most facial mists, it’s formulated without drying alcohol. Instead, the brand’s proprietary HADASEI-3 Complex, red algae, and squalane take center stage. We love it for making our makeup look less cakey, and as a light, pre-sunscreen moisturizer in the mornings.
REN Glycolic Lactic Radiance Renewal Mask ($55) – We confess not to own a full-size of this, but we’ve been fortunate enough to snag a couple of samples in past. Beyond the deliciously fruity scent and thick, jammy consistency, this mask’s fruit enzymes soften any skin type gently and naturally, leaving a post-workout glow in its wake (not that we know much about post-workout glows, but so we hear).
Giorgio Armani Maestro Fusion Makeup ($62) – The good folks at Armani beauty spent eight years developing their new foundation , and we have to say, it’s unlike any other we’ve ever tried. Comprised of only pigments suspended in oils, this runny liquid blends seamlessly into skin as soon as it’s applied, leaving a luminous matte finish. And a few drops are all that are required for a full face, which makes the price tag at least a bit easier to swallow, right? Even better, The Beauty Professor has swatched all the shades here! (Ed. note: Be sure to only use your fingertips for this one to avoid a streaky finish. The formula is designed to blend easily with the warmth of your hands.)
